Care Team Reorganizing
Are you in the habit of visiting the
less-than-mobile members of our congregation occasionally? When you hear that a
close friend is in the hospital, do you rearrange your schedule to stop and see
them? Do you think there is nothing more wonderful than to stop running, working
and doing for just an hour, and have a chat about the things that really matter
in life, over a glass of iced tea?
If so, you are already an informal
part of the Prince of Peace visitation program. Consider helping us to become
more deliberate and intentional about these visits, so that we can be sure
everyone in this congregation who ought to be visited receives this Christ-like
care.
The Prince of Peace Care Team will be
reorganizing this month. The proposed schedule is this: we will meet twice a
month, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. The first
meeting will be Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. If you are working a day
job, but would like to participate in the Care Team, perhaps making your visits
on the weekend, please let Pastor Pam know. We can organize an evening or
weekend Care Team, too.
More visitors needed
We do need more members of Prince of
Peace to recognize God’s call to be a visitor. Some of our former visitors are
now receiving visits. Some of our visitors now spend quite a bit of the year in
southern states. This is a time to regroup, and this article is a plea for
recruits!
The care team will not only call on
members of the congregation; we will also assume the responsibility for tending
to the congregation’s prayer list that Dorothy Harshman and Paul Holmquist
managed for so long. Each meeting of the care team will include intercessory
prayer. We will also read the Bible, immersing ourselves in the Holy Spirit’s
visitation and care. We will help each other to grow in our ability to listen
and provide spiritual care. Pastor Pam will offer teaching and support based on
the book, Don’t Sing Songs to a Heavy Heart.
God’s people visit!
